Opportunities of Nuclear and Plasma Sciences for Energy and Society
Following the success of the NPSS Climate Workshop at NSS-MIC 2024 in Tampa and the renewed global interest in nuclear energy, we are pleased to host a half-day workshop at NSS-MIC 2025 in Yokohama, Japan. This session will explore the evolving role of nuclear and plasma science in addressing society’s urgent energy, environmental and medical challenges.
We will explore critical topics such as fusion energy and its long-term impact and public perception, innovative nuclear technologies beyond power generation, sustainable applications in nuclear medicine, and Redox Nuclear Batteries using depleted uranium. This workshop offers a unique forum for interdisciplinary dialogue among scientists and engineers committed to shaping a cleaner, more resilient future.
Date: 7th of November after the Nuclear Science Symposium Closing Session.
Location: IEEE NSS-MIC-RTSD in Room: G301 & G302 on Level 3
The meeting is organised by the IEEE Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society Climate Change Initiative (NPSSCCI) and is open to participants in person and online free of charge.
