0. Introduction

  • Sasha Paramonov : How would Si photonics (e.g.) be covered in AIM vs. Det Groups?

    • A: AIM covers early R&D, demonstrators, etc.

    • Tim Andeen: be prepared to capitalize on sources of funding, eg. if photonics R&D can be included in tracker specific detector R&D

  • Lothar Bauerdick : How would Community Det Concept Challenge interact with international efforts?

    • A : we would be open to int’l participation

    • Srini : the int’l groups welcome our input

    • Proposal is NOT to have a US detector

    • TODO: build out challenge terms/logistics in collab with international partners

  • Graham Wilson : starting from scratch seems challenging; e.g. we are adapting ILD to work well for FCC-ee

    • Loukas: optimization is really geared to physics benchmarks, eg. not detector specs

  • Caterina : How do we define benchmarks? e.g. do we cover Z-pole or just Higgs?

    • A : Indeed, benchmarks must be clearly defined.   Definition would be community driven / consensus-based.

  • Lothar (paraphrasing significantly): do we really need to HFCC physics studies?  Shouldn’t we just engage in the International effort?

    • Jim comment, not mentioned in meeting : It’s in the HFCC charge.

1. Brainstorming: near/mid-term priorities

  • Michael Kagan (AI): How is AI/ML scope covered by HFCC S&C and HFCC AI/ML?

    • Jim/Liza : Need to flesh out at a cross-cutting meeting

    • Srini : AIM group is expected to collaborate/coordinate cross cutting issues

    • TODO: connect outside of HEP with AI stakeholders, eg. AI initiatives, advanced computing…

  • Ariel (IDS):  The field has not yet answered question of what is role of fast timing at HF.  Would that sort of question be covered by this group?

    • Answer: Yes, US efforts to develop the physics case for fast timing in various sub-systems (and similar physics studies) would be coordinated by the AIM group in close and efficient collaboration with ongoing international efforts.
