Status and Prospects of Gravitational-Wave Astrophysics: Exploring the Dark Universe

The detection of gravitational waves from pairs of black holes has opened up the possibility to observe the Universe in ways that were not possible before. I will review some of the existing results and discuss several exciting opportunities for gravitational-wave astrophysics. This includes probing dark matter, which may leave several unique and measurable signatures on gravitational-wave emission.
