So I think what we really need now regarding GW is to know if any hardware funding could be included. Instrumentation -wise: 1. Virgo upgrade funding should come from submitted NWO-Groot; 2. LISA (joint SRON/Nikhef/TNO) ambition is different. The idea is to     submit NWO-Groot (SRON with Nikhef as participant) in 2020.      I think Zwaartekracht could be an option here. In particular if     crucial people like Ralph and Stan would agree on matching an     eventual Zwaartekracht proposal with some investment funding from     NOVA (Ralph) and Nikhef (Stan) ... If so, my understanding would     be that NOVA  in particular would address CTA needs. If so, Nikhef     could consider to address LISA needs in as far as it concerns Nikhef     instrumentation work: novel quadrant diodes (new materials, low noise,     Niels van  Bakel and (Dutch) industry). Funding up to 500 kEuro would     be extremely desirable and put our Dutch consortium within LISA better     on the map. (Other contribution is between SRON and TNO). Science wise,     I think case for LISA is already well documented (low frequency GW). 3. not direct science, but preparing it: in view of ET there is a strong interest     in an R&D facility. a 20 meter cryogenic laser interferometer aimed initially     at large mirrors of new materials to be operated at 120 or even 20 kelvin     (magic temperatures for silicon based mirrors: zero CTE).     Overall funding over first 5-7 years estimated between  10-15 MEuro capital     investment  (depends who you ask). Channels to draw from:     - Limburg Province     - EZ (INTERREG, EMR, .... all things new to us)     - Belgium and German  institutes/government     - our institutes and government     Also here a contribution from Zwaartekracht would be very welcome. Order     MEuro ... 1? More science wise, but to be considered to include in our proposal: 1. CMB efforts. Leiden voiced an interest to participate by exploring           the B-modes imprint on the CMB (the  BICEP2 'screw-up'). I guess we           need to discuss whether or not to include this in our proposal. I do           not see hardware contribution ... even  though  I still think a Nikhef           contribution to e.g. CUBIC would have been nice but QUBIC is progressing           (too) slow and we at Nikhef (Dorothea notably) did our best to join,           but failed to date. In Europe three workshops were organized (Florence,           APPEC initiative). Very stimulating, but sofar real progress frustrating.           Consult Dorothea once again? It would connect people from Leiden ...  2.  PTA/Lofar: could be connected for very low frequency GW. Pulls in            Joeri van Leeuwen from ASTRON/UvA and  perhaps Jason Hessels at UvA.            Would be very nice to extend frequency coverage further            down and again would broaden our consortium (and include a  potential            co-PI .... Joeri van  Leeuwen). Of course: consult Joeri. I did not, but I know            Joeri well. So: all GW related. What else could I say ... I guess the GW content could be very strong .... Best regards, Frank
